COVID Reopening to Normal Schedule
Timeline for returning to “normal”
All of us have been eager to return to “normal” Sunday morning worship. The vestry has been
following the positivity rate for our area as well as taking into consideration the stance of the
diocese. We are offering this timeline to you for your input. Please let us know your feelings
about this so we can represent you in this area.
As of Easter Sunday,
We will resume the singing of the service music, the processional, gradual, and
recessional hymns and the Lord’s Prayer.
We will continue with meditative music in place of communion hymns since this has
been your preference for some time
Masks will not be required, but if you feel more comfortable wearing one, please do.
We will offer the common cup.
o The purificator will be soaked in vodka which has a higher alcohol content which
will be used to wipe the cup after each use (alcohol kills germs)
o If intinction is preferred, it will be offered in a different chalice
o You have the option of just taking the wafer
o Remember no wine is needed for complete communion, so if you want to
continue with just the wafer, you have effectively received communion.
The Sunday after Easter
We will reinstitute the fellowship hour after the liturgy
o Coffee and water will be served
o Cookies/pastries as well as packaged snacks will be available
o There will be no sit-down lunches
o We will use the parish hall and when the weather gets warmer, we will have our
fellowship outside or in the parish hall with the doors open for more ventilation
It is fitting that we return to regular worship on Easter Sunday, celebrating the resurrection of
Christ and new beginnings here at St. Barnabas.
